Idaho Chess Coach Summer Chess Camp
Terms of Service & Participant Agreement
Effective Date: June 7, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Agreement") govern participation in the Idaho Chess Coach Summer Chess Camp ("Camp"), operated by Idaho Chess Coach and its instructors, coaches, staff, volunteers, and affiliates ("Camp Staff").
By registering a participant for Camp, the parent or legal guardian agrees to these terms on behalf of themselves and the participant.
1. Eligibility
Camp is open to students in grades K–12.
Participants should have a basic understanding of chess, including how pieces move and the objective of the game.
Camp Staff reserves the right to place participants in instructional groups based on skill level, rating, experience, or instructor assessment.
2. Registration and Payment
Registration is not guaranteed until payment has been received.
Camp fees must be paid in full prior to the participant's first day unless alternative arrangements have been approved in writing.
Camp reserves the right to deny or cancel registration for any reason, including insufficient enrollment, facility issues, or participant conduct concerns.
3. Attendance and Supervision
Parents or guardians are responsible for ensuring participants arrive and depart on time.
Camp supervision is provided only during scheduled camp hours.
Camp Staff is not responsible for participants before check-in or after dismissal.
Participants may not leave camp premises without authorization from a parent, guardian, or authorized adult.
4. Participant Conduct
Participants are expected to:
Treat fellow students, coaches, staff, and facility personnel with respect.
Demonstrate good sportsmanship.
Follow all camp rules and instructor directions.
Refrain from disruptive, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or unsafe behavior.
Respect camp property, facility property, and the property of others.
Camp Staff may remove a participant from an activity or dismiss them from camp for serious or repeated misconduct. No refund will be issued for dismissal resulting from conduct violations.
5. Health and Medical Information
Parents or guardians must disclose any medical conditions, allergies, dietary restrictions, or other information necessary for participant safety.
Camp Staff will make reasonable efforts to contact a parent or guardian in the event of illness, injury, or emergency.
In an emergency, Camp Staff may seek appropriate medical treatment when a parent or guardian cannot be reached.
Parents or guardians are financially responsible for any medical expenses incurred.
6. Assumption of Risk
Participation in Camp activities involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:
Slips, trips, and falls
Minor injuries during recreational activities
Tournament participation
Travel to and from the facility
Parents and guardians acknowledge these risks and voluntarily permit participation.
7. Release of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the parent or guardian releases and holds harmless Idaho Chess Coach, its instructors, coaches, volunteers, facility partners, sponsors, and affiliates from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from participation in Camp, except where caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct.
8. Tournament Participation
Camp may include rated or unrated chess tournaments.
Participants are expected to comply with all tournament rules and standards of sportsmanship.
USCF-rated events may require membership in the appropriate governing organization.
Tournament pairings, standings, prizes, and rulings are final unless modified by tournament officials.
9. Food and Dietary Needs
Participants must bring their own lunch unless otherwise specified by Camp.
Food provided by Camp may contain common allergens.
Parents are responsible for notifying Camp Staff of allergies or dietary restrictions.
10. Personal Property
Participants are responsible for their personal belongings. Camp Staff is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items including electronics, phones, chess equipment, clothing, or bags.

Unless a parent or guardian opts out in writing before the start of Camp:
Camp may photograph, film, or record participants during activities.
Camp may use such materials for educational, promotional, marketing, social media, website, or advertising purposes.
No compensation will be provided for such use.
Parents wishing to opt out must notify Camp Staff in writing before the participant's first day.
12. Refund and Cancellation Policy
Cancellation by Parent/Guardian
More than 14 days before camp start date: Full refund minus processing fees.
7–14 days before camp start date: 50% refund.
Less than 7 days before camp start date: No refund.
Cancellation by Camp
If Camp is canceled due to insufficient enrollment, facility issues, instructor unavailability, or other circumstances beyond reasonable control, participants will receive either:
A full refund, or
A transfer to another available session.
Camp is not responsible for travel, lodging, or incidental expenses.
13. Schedule Changes
Camp reserves the right to modify instructors, activities, schedules, curriculum, or tournament formats when reasonably necessary.
14. Electronic Communications
By registering, parents and guardians consent to receiving communications regarding registration, scheduling, camp updates, emergency notifications, and tournament information by email, phone, or text.
15. Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Idaho.
Any disputes arising from participation in Camp shall be resolved in courts located within Idaho.
16. Severability
If any provision of this Agreement is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
Parent/Guardian Acknowledgment
I certify that:
I am the parent or legal guardian of the participant.
I have read and understand this Agreement.
I consent to the participant's attendance and participation in Camp.
I agree to the terms contained herein.
Unless a parent or guardian opts out in writing before the start of Camp:
Camp may photograph, film, or record participants during activities.
Camp may use such materials for educational, promotional, marketing, social media, website, or advertising purposes.
No compensation will be provided for such use.
Parents wishing to opt out must notify Camp Staff in writing before the participant's first day.
